We started Quiet Canvas in Bengaluru in 2026, out of a fairly ordinary complaint: every evening felt accounted for by a screen, and none of the hobbies we tried actually pulled us away from one. We looked at paint-by-numbers kits already on the market and found two kinds — craft-store sets that felt like they were made for a birthday party, all primary colours and clip-art, and imported kits that cost more than the frame they'd eventually need. Neither felt like something we'd want on our own wall, or wanted to sit still with for an hour.
So we made the version we actually wanted. Gallery-grade designs — Amalfi light, temple gold, a koi pond at dusk — painted slowly, one numbered section at a time, on canvas good enough to actually hang once it's finished. We didn't chase the loudest palette or the busiest composition. If anything, we did the opposite: kept the site quiet, kept the copy short, kept the focus on the one thing that matters, which is an hour with a brush in your hand and nothing else asking for your attention.
That's also, as it turns out, a real and fairly well-documented benefit of paint by numbers for stress relief — the repetitive, numbered brushwork occupies just enough of your attention to crowd out the mental noise of the day, without demanding the kind of skill or decision-making that makes most creative hobbies feel like one more thing to be good at. You're not composing anything. You're matching a number to a number, and somewhere in the third or fourth evening of doing that, the rest of the day tends to go quiet too.
We called it Quiet Canvas because that's the whole idea, not a brand adjective we picked to sound calm. No countdown timers, no gamified streaks, no "10% off if you buy now" pop-up the second you land on the site. Just fifty-one paintings, a fair price, and however many evenings it takes you to finish one.
