Rolled canvas (38 × 58 cm) · Medium difficulty

Buddha

₹799 ₹2,499

Buddha paints a serene face with closed eyes and tightly curled hair, wrapped in green leaves and lit in amber and ochre. The faceted, almost cut-glass style gives a traditional subject a modern look. It suits a meditation corner, a study or any room that wants a calm focal point.

Framed or rolled?

Jumbo kits arrive stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang. Classic kits are rolled canvas — paint them flat, then frame however you like.

What you'll paint

The face is built from planes of gold, orange and burnt sienna, with a small red dot at the brow and a strand of beads resting at the chest. Broad leaves in deep and bright green wrap around the figure, so the warm face glows against cool, shaded foliage. Each facet is its own clear, separate shape, so you can see exactly where one colour ends and the next begins, which makes this a medium painting with some patience in the leaves and a great deal of calm in the face. Take your time with the eyes and the mouth, and the rest follows, with the leaves painted last to make the face glow.
