Flower Girl paints a woman seated cross-legged on a wooden chair, her face entirely hidden behind an armful of oversized pink and crimson peonies. Dressed in teal denim against a soft blue-grey backdrop, the mood is playful and a little dreamy — flowers as both hiding place and statement. It suits anyone drawn to fashion-forward florals rather than a straightforward bouquet.

What you'll paint

The peonies are painted in loose, overlapping layers of blush, rose and deep red, with soft shadow between each petal giving the bouquet real weight and shape. Her teal jeans and the dark wooden chair ground the piece in cooler tones, while the pale blue-grey background stays simple and unfussy. It's a detailed, absorbing scene — most of the patience goes into the petals, with the clothing and chair filling in quickly around them.
