Whispers of Vrindavan paints Krishna and Radha leaning close, eyes closed, as he plays the flute among pink lotuses and wide teal leaves. The palette is soft and cool, with warm coral and blush tones at the figures. It is a tender, watercolour-style scene for anyone who loves the stories of Vrindavan.

What you'll paint

Krishna's blue skin, coral turban, peacock feather and gold-tipped flute sit beside Radha's blush-pink veil, patterned with tiny flowers and edged in turquoise, so the two figures read as one warm shape against the cool leaves. Pink lotus blooms and large leaves in teal, jade and sea green fill the background. The two faces and the jewellery hold the fine detail, such as the earrings, the forehead ornaments and the beaded necklaces, while the leaves are broad and soft. Because the style is watercolour-like, with gentle shifts of shade, this is a detailed painting that rewards a light hand and a slow pace, ideal for a long, quiet evening.
